Women's Expo - Diva Day 2007 - 'Women Are Like Butterflies"

This was the second year for the Milford Women's Expo also known as Diva Day.  And for the second year Carole's Cake Creations was a big part of the planning and success of the event.  Carole's Cake Creations had a table again but this year we also held 2 significant events at Diva Day - a 'Cake Off' and the 'Victorian Charm Pull'.

Cake Off

Since Carole has been working on new cake flavors to add to the cake menu, we decided that we should hold a 'Cake Off' - a taste test between 2 recipes for Devil's Food Cake.  We created 2 identical looking cakes and put out ballots for everyone that came to the table.  In the end it was a landslide - Recipe B won by a 4:1 margin!  Check out the results on the right.  Comments made by voters said that it was more flavorful and more moist.  Thanks to everyone who voted.  If you look on our Cake Menu page you will see the newly added recipe.

Victorian Charm Pull

This event started by putting your name in the drawing box at Carole's Cake Creations table.  From this box 10 names were selected for an opportunity to pull one of 10 Victorian Charms from the cake.  These charms were buried deep in the cake and held with a ribbon that extended out onto the table.  All 10 women got to go home with their charm.  In addition, 3 of the charms were butterflies and the lucky ones who pulled these charms each won a hand-painted, sterling silver butterfly pin.  Congratulations to all of the winners!

Finally, Carole cut and served all of the cake to an enthusiastic crowd.
